This Privacy Policy describes how the been app („we“, „our“, or „the app“) handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

1. Information We Collect

The been app itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All country data you enter (visited, wanted, lived) is stored exclusively on your device using local storage and is never sent to our servers.

2. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app displays ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads, including:

  • Device identifiers (IDFA on iOS, if you grant permission)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • App usage and interaction data
  • Device information (model, OS version, language)

On iOS, the app asks for your permission to track (App Tracking Transparency) before showing personalized ads. You may deny this permission at any time in your device settings — the app will continue to function and will show non-personalized ads instead.

3. Data Storage

All travel data (countries tagged as been, wanted, or lived) is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data is never uploaded to any server and is only accessible within the app. Deleting the app removes all stored data permanently.
