Privacy Policy – CarAi

This privacy policy explains how personal data is handled when you use the CarAi app.

Summary

  • You do not need an account and do not have to register.
  • The publisher operates no servers of its own for the app and uses no tracking or analytics tools.
  • Your photos, documents and entries (vehicles, fuel-ups, workshop visits) are stored only on your device.
  • Text recognition (OCR) runs entirely on your device. The content is not sent to the publisher or to third parties for this purpose.
  • Optional: sync through your own iCloud account (iOS) or backup through Android Auto Backup to Google Drive (Android).
  • The free version may contain advertising from Google AdMob.

Data on your device

CarAi is a tool for managing vehicle data. You can photograph your vehicle registration document, fuel receipts and workshop invoices, import PDF files, and manage and analyze vehicles, fuel-ups, workshop visits and documents. Depending on what you enter, the app may hold:

  • vehicle data (e.g. make, model, license plate, first registration, inspection date, odometer reading),
  • fuel and workshop data (e.g. date, quantity, price, amount, odometer reading),
  • photos, scans and imported documents (e.g. copies of the registration document, receipts, invoices).

This data is stored only locally on your device. The publisher does not receive it and has no access to it. Because the publisher neither collects nor receives this content, the publisher does not process it; to the extent the app processes data on your device for you, this happens at your request to provide the functions you use (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

On-device text recognition (OCR)

To read registration documents, fuel receipts and invoices, the app uses text recognition that runs locally:

  • iOS: Apple Vision (text recognition by the operating system, on-device),
  • Android: Google ML Kit Text Recognition (on-device).

Recognition takes place entirely on your device. Images and recognized text are not transmitted to the publisher or to third parties for this purpose. Recognition can make mistakes; please check recognized values before saving.

Camera, photos, files and notifications

  • Camera and photos/files: The app accesses the camera, photo library or files only when you trigger an action (e.g. scanning a receipt or importing a PDF). You can revoke permissions at any time in your system settings.
  • Notifications: Reminders, e.g. for an inspection date, are scheduled and shown locally on your device. No server of the publisher is used for this. You can turn notifications off in your system settings.

Optional sync and backup

iOS: Apple iCloud

If you use iCloud sync, your data is stored through Apple CloudKit in the private container of your iCloud account and synchronized between your devices. The data resides in the user’s iCloud account; the publisher has no access to it. Apple is responsible for processing by iCloud and Apple’s privacy terms apply. You control this in iOS settings (Apple ID → iCloud).

Android: Android Auto Backup / Google Drive

On Android, app data may be backed up to Google Drive by Android Auto Backup. Google performs this backup and you can control it in your device’s system settings. The publisher has no access to these backups. Google’s privacy terms apply.

Purchases and subscriptions (CarAi Pro)

CarAi Pro is offered as an in-app purchase through the Apple App Store (StoreKit) or Google Play (Play Billing): monthly subscription, yearly subscription (with a free trial where configured in the respective store) and a one-time purchase (lifetime). Processing, including your payment data, is handled exclusively by Apple or Google. The publisher receives no payment data. The app only checks through the respective store’s interfaces whether Pro is unlocked for you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Prices are shown in the respective store. You can restore purchases in the app using “Restore purchases” (“Käufe wiederherstellen”).

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version may contain advertising from Google AdMob. Pro users see no ads. When ad banners are shown, Google, as the provider of AdMob, processes, according to its own information and depending on configuration, data such as IP address, device or advertising identifier, app and device information and approximate location in order to deliver ads, prevent abuse and measure ad performance. Google is responsible for this processing; see policies.google.com/privacy for details.

Where ads are served, we ask for your consent through a consent dialog; on iOS the App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown in addition. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, Section 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future, e.g. through your device’s privacy or advertising settings, or by switching to CarAi Pro. Using the app’s functions does not depend on consent to advertising.

Disclosure of data

The publisher does not disclose personal data because it does not receive any. Data is processed by Apple or Google only to the extent technically required for the services you use (iCloud, Google backup, purchases, and advertising where applicable). Processing may also take place outside the EU, e.g. in the USA; the providers safeguard this under their own privacy terms.

Retention and deletion

The publisher stores no user data. Data on your device remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Data in iCloud or in a Google backup is stored under Apple’s or Google’s rules and can be deleted by you there. Step-by-step instructions are on the data deletion page.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21), and the right to withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7(3)). Because the publisher does not store the content of your app use, you can usually view, change, export (CarAi Pro: CSV export) and delete your data directly in the app. For questions, contact [email protected].

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany, www.lda.bayern.de, or the authority in your place of residence.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 16. We do not collect data from children.

Website

This privacy policy covers the app. For visits to this website (bergeritsolutions.de), including server log files, the website privacy policy (German) applies.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy, e.g. for new features or changes in the law. The version published here applies. Last updated: September 19, 2026.
